Our theme this evening was to complete the Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA) badge - GirlGuiding New Zealand has partnered with VSA to create a badge for all girls to complete.
The girls made a broom each from natural materials collected from outside the hall. It is lucky that we have a lot of pine trees!
The girls also collected larger branches so that they could tie their pine needles to it to make a "broom". The girls then tested their brooms by sweeping up some corks and playing an indoor version of curling!
The girls also learned how to hand wash a handkerchief with soap. They learned that not everyone is lucky enough to have electricity, a washing machine and dryer. The girls realised how hard it would be to have to hand wash everything they owned and dry it.
The girls finally coloured in a set of paper dolls to represent all the different people in the world.
