Bubbles!

Tonight our theme was bubbles.

The girls blew pink bubbles outside on the field until the rain came and we were forced to the verandah. It was a very windy evening so blowing bubbles went quite well. It certainly looked like lots of fun!

We blew pink bubbles as part of our Pink Star Challenge. The Pink Star Challenge is a new badge for GirlGuiding New Zealand where we are aiming to help to raise awareness of breast cancer.

As part of the Pink Star Challenge we are trying to create the longest bra chain in the world. GirlGuiding New Zealand Dargaville are helping to collect all of the 200,000 bras we need to collect by November. So, if you have any old bras that you would normally throw out we would appreciate you donating them to our bra chain!

Once the Bra Chain World Record attempt has been achieved, all the highest quality bras will be sent to women in Africa, Haiti, the Pacific Islands or other countries as a way of giving back to women and girls overseas.

I created a memory game from bubble pictures for you to complete and test your memory skills.

You also learned about the history of bubble gum and we chewed on some Hubba Bubba bubble gum and tried to learn how to blow bubbles with it. It is certainly much harder than it looks. We might need some more practice at it later in the term.

We also thought of all the bubbble shaped things there are - well done for your lists.

Look forward to more science experiments next week!
